While losing is never fun, Mt. Vernon can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio football rankings (they are ranked 454th, while West Holmes is ranked 169th).
Jake Taylor threw for 50 yards on six of 13 attempts. On the ground, Jonny Askew picked up 17 receiving yards and no touchdowns.
Mt. Vernon are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-9. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 0.0 points per game. As for West Holmes, their victory was their 12th straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 8-2.
