The Huntingdon Bearcats will face off against the Bishop Guilfoyle Marauders at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Huntingdon will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
Huntingdon will bounce into Monday's contest after beating Philipsburg-Osceola, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. The Bearcats came out on top against the Mountaineers by a score of 8-3 on Thursday.
The team relied heavily on Erick Rupert, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Grady Clark, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, Bishop Guilfoyle can bid farewell to their five-game losing streak thanks to their game on Thursday. Everything went their way against Richland as they made off with a 7-1 victory. The game was the first time the Marauders have beaten the Rams on their field since May 10, 2018.
Brody Gartman and Michael Cacciotti made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Gartman tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Cacciotti didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Bishop Guilfoyle is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 0-7 otherwise. At the plate, Gartman went 1-for-4 with one triple and one run, while Cacciotti went 1-for-3 with two runs. Those two runs gave Cacciotti a new career-high.
In other batting news, Lex Dixon was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March of 2024. Jesse Georgianna also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Bishop Guilfoyle kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Huntingdon's record now sits at 9-3. As for Bishop Guilfoyle, their record is now 2-8.
Huntingdon couldn't quite get it done against Bishop Guilfoyle when the teams last played back in April of 2024 as they fell 4-1. Can the Bearcats avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
