Paulding County has been on the road for two straight, but on Tuesday they'll finally head home. The Paulding County Patriots and the East Paulding Raiders will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 23rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Paulding County suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Saturday. They were outmatched by New Manchester on the road and fell 71-26. Paulding County has struggled against New Manchester recently, as their match on Saturday was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.
The losing side was boosted by Alexus Wilson, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, East Paulding's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fourth straight loss. They suffered a rough 63-40 loss at the hands of Langston Hughes. While losing is never fun, East Paulding can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 388th, while Langston Hughes is ranked 22nd).
Paulding County bumped their record down to 9-9 with that loss, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for East Paulding, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-16 record this season.
Paulding County was able to grind out a solid win over East Paulding in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, winning 36-29. Will Paulding County repeat their success, or does East Paulding have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
