Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Averie Yates and Abby Theiss Lead Christ Prep Academy to Victory

A well-balanced attack led Christ Prep Academy over Faith Christian Academy in every quarter on their way to victory on Thursday. The Christ Prep Academy Patriots took down the Faith Christian Academy Knights 47-31. That's more bragging rights for the Patriots, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Christ Prep Academy was led to victory by Abby Theiss and Averie Yates. Theiss almost dropped a double-double on nine points and ten rebounds, while Yates almost dropped a double-double on nine points and ten rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Theiss a new career-high in assists (five). Lydia Hoover was another key player, putting up four points along with six rebounds and five steals.

Christ Prep Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in four consecutive matches.

Christ Prep Academy now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Faith Christian Academy, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Christ Prep Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 54-51 victory against Non Varsity Opponent on the 14th. As for Faith Christian Academy, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Cornerstone Family at 6:00 p.m. on January 9, 2025.
