The Norfolk Christian Ambassadors will face off against the Christchurch School Seahorses at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Norfolk Christian has now lost seven straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since March 26.
Norfolk Christian fell victim to Catholic and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They came up short against the Crusaders, falling 12-0.
Meanwhile, Christchurch School got themselves on the board against Norfolk Academy on Monday, but Norfolk Academy never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over the Bulldogs. Considering the Seahorses have won five matches by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Alivia Bruce was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, Rylee Taylor was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, three runs, and one stolen base. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Charli Miltenberger, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs and two doubles.
Christchurch School always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Christchurch School is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-10 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Norfolk Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 2-12.
Christchurch School's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Norfolk Christian has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .450. It's a different story for Christchurch School, though, as they've only averaged .341. Will they be able to contain Norfolk Christian's hitters?
Norfolk Christian might still be hurting after the 10-0 defeat they got from Christchurch School in their previous meeting back in April of 2024.
