After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Whitney Young, the Westinghouse Warriors were happy to have found some success on Thursday. They skirted past Taft 46-44. For Westinghouse, this counts as revenge for the 40-17 defeat Taft walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2022.
Jamilah Jackson was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds. That makes it five consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of Westinghouse's points. Another player making a difference was Niera Newman, who scored nine points along with eight rebounds.
Westinghouse pushed their record up to 6-2 with that victory, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.3 points per game. As for Taft, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-7.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Westinghouse will face off against Crane Medical at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Crane Medical will be coming into the matchup with an undefeated record on the line. Taft won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Trinity at 7:00 p.m. on December 15th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Illinois (Trinity is ranked 233rd, while Taft is ranked 242nd).
