Skyline is 9-1 against Cunningham since February of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Skyline Thunderbirds will be playing at home against the Cunningham Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. Skyline is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home.
After soaring to a 21-point victory in their last game, Skyline came back down to earth on Tuesday. They fell just short of Attica by a score of 41-38.
Meanwhile, Cunningham entered their tilt with Central Christian with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Cunningham came out on top against Central Christian by a score of 66-58 on Tuesday. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Cunningham can attribute much of their success to Luke Albers, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten rebounds, and Will Wegerer, who almost dropped a double-double on 22 points and nine rebounds. Wegerer is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 19 or more in the last four games he's played. Luke McGuire was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with eight rebounds.
Skyline has not been sharp recently as the team's lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-7-2 record this season. As for Cunningham, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-3 record this season.
Skyline won a matchup that couldn't have been any closer in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, slipping by Cunningham 65-64. Does Skyline have another victory up their sleeve, or will Cunningham turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
