The Family Christian Academy Lions will look to defend their home court on Thursday against the Circle Christian Centurions at 7:00 p.m. The pair have had a bumpy ride up to this point with six consecutive losses for Family Christian Academy and four for Circle Christian.
Family Christian Academy pushed their score all the way to 61 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 75-61 bruising from Trinity Christian Academy. While losing is never fun, Family Christian Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 551st, while Trinity Christian Academy is ranked 30th).
Meanwhile, Circle Christian pushed their score all the way to 59 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 66-59 to Warner Christian Academy.
Despite their loss, Circle Christian saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Lucas Valdes, who scored 20 points along with 3 steals, was perhaps the best of all. Valdes scored a full 33.9% of Circle Christian's points, the second time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Connor Lion was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with 6 rebounds and 3 steals.
Family Christian Academy bumped their record down to 0-6 with that loss, which was their third straight at home. As for Circle Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 0-4.
Everything came up roses for Family Christian Academy against Circle Christian when the teams last played back in December of 2020 as the squad secured a 68-40 win.
