There's no place like home for the Grayson County Blue Devils, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Wednesday. They walked away with a 55-47 win over Bland County on Friday. This was a revenge matchup for Grayson County, as the team was forced to settle for a 48-38 defeat when these two played last Wednesday.
Grayson County's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Eli Gillespie led the charge by scoring 14 points along with eight rebounds and five assists. It was the first time this season that Gillespie pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Mac Goad, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine rebounds.
Grayson County pushed their record up to 9-13 with that win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.3 points per game. As for Bland County, their loss dropped their record down to 9-15.
Grayson County will head out on the road to challenge George Wythe at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Grayson County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Friday. Bland County does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
