The Glenbrook South Titans are taking a road trip to challenge the Palatine Pirates at 10:00 a.m. on Monday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Glenbrook South sitting on three straight victories and Palatine on four.
Glenbrook South can't be too worried about heading out to take on Palatine: they just beat Grayslake Central at home, who had been dominant on their own field up to that point. The Titans' pitchers stepped up to hand the Rams a 5-0 shutout on Saturday.

Glenbrook South got a great performance from Blake Hoffer as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Hoffer has posted since back in April.
At the plate, Trey Ryno was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael Eschenbach, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
Meanwhile, Palatine got the win against Niles West on Saturday by a conclusive 10-4. That's two games straight that the Pirates have won by exactly six runs.
Peter Mulhern made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one run and one double.
In other pitching news, Brandon Ziebell tossed a big game, pitching five innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Jett Greiwe, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Carter Monroe was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Palatine's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 25-9. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Glenbrook South, their record is now 15-19.
Everything went Glenbrook South's way against Palatine when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Glenbrook South made off with an 11-2 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Titans since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
