The Memorial Mustangs will take on the Cypress Creek Cougars at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Memorial will be looking to extend their current ten-game winning streak.
Memorial proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by three) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Cy-Fair 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Mustangs have posted since August 30th.
Memorial had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first two sets, they turned around to win the next three. The match finished with set scores of 22-25, 22-25, 25-20, 25-9, 15-5.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Cypress Creek, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out Cypress Ridge 3-2. The Cougars haven't had any issues with the Rams recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
The match was a true back-and-forth as no team won consecutive sets, but in the end it was Cypress Creek who won the one that mattered. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-14, 23-25, 25-19, 23-25, 15-10.
Cypress Creek's victory bumped their record up to 23-18. As for Memorial, their win bumped their record up to 23-10.
Memorial was able to grind out a solid victory over Cypress Creek in their previous meeting back in September, winning 3-1. Will the Mustangs repeat their success, or do the Cougars have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
