Volleyball Recap: Forest Lake Academy Comes Up Short

The Forest Lake Academy Panthers lost 3-0 to the Academy of Central Florida National Golden Bulls on Monday. The Panthers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Forest Lake Academy was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Academy of Central Florida National work for it, especially in the second set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 27-25, 25-12.

Despite the defeat, Forest Lake Academy saw an underclassman step up: freshman Ethan Hazen had 19 digs and one assist. Hazen has been hot, having posted ten or more digs the last six times he's played. Erick Azevedo also deserves some recognition as he had his first block of the season.

Academy of Central Florida National found their leader in sophomore Samuel Ortega, who had 22 digs and four aces. Those four aces set a new season-high mark for Ortega.

Forest Lake Academy's loss dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Academy of Central Florida National, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 6-4.

Forest Lake Academy has already played their next matchup, a 3-0 defeat against Lake Brantley on the 25th. As for Academy of Central Florida National, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 3-1 win against Celebration on the 26th.
