The Greenwich Cardinals lost against the Staples Wreckers back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Greenwich fell 57-49 to Staples. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Greenwich in their matchups with Staples: they've now lost six in a row.
Staples got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Adam Udell out in front who scored 15 points along with nine rebounds and six assists. Udell is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Sam Clachko was another key contributor, scoring 20 points along with seven rebounds.
Greenwich's defeat was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Staples, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-4.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Greenwich will take on Trumbull at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Trumbull knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 11 matches -- so hopefully Greenwich likes a good challenge. As for Staples, they will be playing at home against Wilton at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. That game will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Ryan Luchetta and Clachko.
