Baseball Recap: Sunrise Mountain Victorious

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Canyon View, Sunrise Mountain was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They never let the Paradise Valley Trojans get on the board and left with an 8-0 win. The Mustangs haven't had any issues with the Trojans recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Sunrise Mountain let Chase Heid and Brandon Newkirk run wild. Heid scored two runs while going 3-for-4, while Newkirk scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. The dominant performance gave Heid a new career-high in hits. Another player making a difference was Jorge Campillo, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

Sunrise Mountain now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Paradise Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 1-4.

Looking ahead, Sunrise Mountain will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on Verrado at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. Verrado will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last. As for Paradise Valley, they will venture away from home to take on Gila Ridge at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday.
