The Lewisburg Patriots won the last time they faced the Oxford Chargers, and things went their way on Saturday too. Lewisburg came out on top against Oxford by a score of 56-43. Given Lewisburg's advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 39th, while Oxford is ranked 129th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Allie Carroll was her usual excellent self, scoring 18 points along with eight steals and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Allison Irby, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.
Lewisburg has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 17-7 record this season. As for Oxford, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-15.
Lewisburg will head out on the road to face off against Horn Lake at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing isn't great for Horn Lake: they have been struggling with six straight losses at home, while Lewisburg has snatched up seven consecutive wins on the road. Oxford will take on Hernando at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hernando is coming into the game hot, having won their last six games.
