The Maxwell Wildcats lost against the Paxton Tigers back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. Maxwell took a 43-30 hit to the loss column at the hands of Paxton. Maxwell has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Levi Huffman was Maxwell's leading scorer, having posted nine points.
Jesse Reyes held things down on the boards with six rebounds. He took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with three assists.
Paxton's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Maddex McConnell led the charge by scoring 11 points along with three blocks. McConnell is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in the last three games he's played. Josh Eakins was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Maxwell's loss dropped their record down to 2-12. As for Paxton, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-5.
Maxwell will be playing at home against Wauneta-Palisade at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Wauneta-Palisade is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Paxton, they will take on Dundy County-Stratton at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Dundy County-Stratton will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
