Two dominant players in Jamichael Green and Aaron Stewart are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The South Delta Bulldogs will be playing in front of their home fans against the Riverside Bulldogs at 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday. South Delta knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past six matchups -- so hopefully Riverside likes a good challenge.
South Delta pushed their score all the way to 57 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell to Port Gibson 63-57.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Ahmani Lee, who scored 15 points along with nine rebounds and three steals. The contest was Lee's seventh in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Emmanuel Sutton, who scored 12 points along with nine rebounds.
Meanwhile, Riverside scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat St. Joseph 72-34 on the road. Riverside might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won four contests by 25 points or more this season.
Riverside's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Otis Williams led the charge by scoring 14 points along with five assists and three steals. Williams also grabbed two+ steals for the first time this season. BJ Amos was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
South Delta now has a losing record at 3-4. As for Riverside, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-1.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: South Delta have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 40 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Riverside, though, as they've been averaging only 34.7 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
South Delta came up short against Riverside in their previous meeting back in November, falling 42-34. Will South Delta have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
