The Macksville Mustangs's game last Tuesday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They managed a 54-48 victory over Victoria. That's another feather in the cap for Macksville, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Macksville's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ty Clawson, who scored eight points along with nine rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Hector Gomez, who scored 15 points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Several Knights players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Seth Schwien, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 18 rebounds. Schwien is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Quincy Pickering, who scored 16 points along with two steals.
Macksville pushed their record up to 9-5 with that victory, which was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.3 points per game. As for Victoria, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-9.
Macksville will take on the Coyotes at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Victoria, they will head out on the road to take on the Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
