The St. Anthony Yellowjackets lost against the St. Joseph Flyers on January 2nd, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. St. Anthony fell to St. Joseph 45-40. St. Anthony has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
When it comes to explaining why St. Anthony lost, one person who can't be blamed is Laura Sierra. Despite the final result, she almost dropped a triple-double on 20 points, nine steals, and 11 blocks. Sierra is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Alejandra Vargas, who scored five points along with 11 assists and three steals.
St. Anthony's loss dropped their record down to 14-13. As for St. Joseph, their victory bumped their record up to 21-9.
St. Anthony will head out on the road to face off against San Antonio Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for St. Joseph, they will be playing at home against TMI-Episcopal at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. TMI-Episcopal has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 30.
