The Church Point Bears will take on the Doyle Tigers in a tournament on Saturday. Church Point is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.

If Church Point beats Doyle with 14 runs on Saturday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. Church Point came out on top against Rayne by a score of 14-10 on Wednesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Bears.

Kylee Fruge was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (two). Rylee Bertinot also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Church Point always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .561. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Doyle faced Iota in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. Doyle fell just short of Iota by a score of 3-2. The matchup marked the Tigers' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Doyle moved to 7-2 with that loss, which also ended their five-game winning streak. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 7.4 runs. As for Church Point, they now have a winning record of 3-2-1.

Church Point came up short against Doyle in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, falling 6-3. Can Church Point avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
