Softball Recap: Billings' Winning Streak Snapped at Four Games

Billings dropped their record down to 4-7 on Friday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins. They fell 10-7 to the Hurley Tigers. The Wildcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Tigers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

As for Hurley, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-5. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games.

For Hurley's part, Addy Maxwell made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and three unearned) runs off ten hits. Maxwell has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Dacia Grubbs was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Cali Frogley, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.

Looking ahead, Billings will square off against Galena at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Hurley, they will take on Pleasant Hope at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
