The Atlantic Sharks scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Monday. They strolled past Pine Ridge with points to spare, taking the game 66-48. The win was just what Atlantic needed coming off of a 62-25 defeat in their prior matchup.
It was another big night for Aurielle Reavis, who scored 34 points along with seven steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Madelyn Johnson, who scored 16 points along with two steals.
Pine Ridge's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Imani Ihaza, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 13 rebounds. Ihaza's trending in the right direction, as she's improved his point production for four games straight. Brooke Murray was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Pine Ridge struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Atlantic pulled down 15 offensive rebounds.
Atlantic has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a massive bump to their 9-9 record this season. As for Pine Ridge, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost nine of their last 12 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Atlantic will take on University at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Pine Ridge won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Seabreeze at 7:30 p.m. on January 23rd. Seabreeze has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
