The Blackman Blaze waltzed into their contest on Thursday with four straight wins but they left with five. They put the hurt on Rockvale with a sharp 49-23 win. That's another feather in the cap for Blackman, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Blackman was led to victory by Kaelyn Flowers and Lyriq Mastin. Flowers scored 18 points along with five rebounds and two steals, while Mastin scored 18 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Mastin has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last five times she's played.
Despite the defeat, Rockvale saw an underclassman step up: Isabella Wright scored eight points.
Blackman has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season. As for Rockvale, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-9 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Blackman will square off against the Patriots at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Oakland will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive. As for Rockvale, they will head out on the road to face off against the Stars at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Siegel will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Tennessee Rankings (they are ranked 220th, while the are ranked 89th).
