The Eads Eagles will challenge the Cheyenne Wells Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Cheyenne Wells will be up against a hot Eads squad: the team just extended their winning streak to seven. The Eagles blew past Cheraw, posting a 60-12 victory. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Eagles' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado football rankings (they are ranked eighth, while the Wolverines are ranked 47th).
Karsten Buller had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 168 yards and five touchdowns on only 14 carries, while also picking up 75 receiving yards and one TD. He really caught the secondary sleeping when he pulled down a catch that went for 75 yards. Aydn Hough was another key player, throwing for 165 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 71.4% of his passes.
Eads didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Cheraw to a completion percentage of just 33.3%. That dominant aerial defense primarily came from one players: Buller, who each logged two passes deflected. Given Hough's standout performance, it's clear Cheraw's secondary just wasn't on the same level.
Eads' defense didn't let the opposing QB, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for four sacks. Johnathan Vasquez was especially locked on to Cheraw's QB and sacked him three times.
Meanwhile, Cheyenne Wells won against Cheraw back in September with 52 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Friday. The Tigers simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Fleming 52-6.
Eads' win bumped their record up to 7-0. As for Cheyenne Wells, their victory bumped their record up to 4-1.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. Eads has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 271.4 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Cheyenne Wells struggles in that department as they've been averaging 234.6 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Eads was dealt a bruising 55-12 loss at the hands of Cheyenne Wells in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. Will the Eagles have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other football content.
