The Phoenix Spartans lost against the Mandeville Skippers back in December of 2020, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Phoenix fell 60-51 to Mandeville. Phoenix has not had much luck with Mandeville recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Despite the loss, Phoenix saw an underclassman step up: RONDELL BATTLE dropped a double-double on 23 points and ten rebounds. BATTLE scored a full 45.1% of Phoenix's points, the sixth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. DERVONTE ANCAR was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with three blocks.
Phoenix now has a losing record at 6-7. As for Mandeville, their win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-6.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Phoenix won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Pine at 5:30 a.m. on December 29th. Pine is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. Mandeville will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Salmen at 7:00 p.m. on January 8, 2024.
