Basketball Game Preview: Pahrump Valley Trojans vs. Boulder City Eagles

Pahrump Valley is 0-10 against Boulder City since January of 2017 but things could change on Monday. The Pahrump Valley Trojans will look to defend their home court against the Boulder City Eagles at 6:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Pahrump Valley is headed into Monday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Friday. They fell 66-56 to Pinecrest Academy Sloan Canyon.

Despite their defeat, Pahrump Valley saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Antwahn Jackson, who posted six points along with seven boards and three blocks, was perhaps the best of all. The dominant performance gave Jackson a new career-high in blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Lucas Gavenda, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 boards.

Even though they lost, Pahrump Valley smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive rebounds. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive board total in three consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Boulder City came tearing into Friday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13.7 points) and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 58-45 win over the Falcons. 58 seems to be a good number for the Eagles as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of points in their previous game.

Boulder City's win came from a few key players Pahrump Valley will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Sean Pendleton, who went 6 of 14 on his way to 18 points. His evening made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Wright, who put up eight points in addition to ten assists and seven steals.

Pahrump Valley's loss dropped their record down to 4-12. As for Boulder City, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season.
