The Brookstone Cougars had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 32.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They blew past Strong Rock Christian 31-7. The result was nothing new for Brookstone, who have now won three contests by 24 points or more so far this season.
Leading Brookstone to victory were Lane Cannon and Gray Jones. Cannon rushed for 110 yards, while Jones rushed for 97 yards on only 11 carries.
When it comes to explaining why Strong Rock Christian lost, one person who can't be blamed is Landon Stancil. Despite the final result, he picked up 111 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Brookstone's win was their fourth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 5-4. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 1-8 Crawford County and 3-6 Mt. Zion (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 39.7% over those games). As for Strong Rock Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 7-3.
Brookstone's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Heritage at 7:30 p.m. on November 3rd. Heritage comes in on a streak of failing to score more than zero points in their last four games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse. Strong Rock Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
