The Cornerstone Eagles will head out to take on the Carver Birmingham Rams at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Cornerstone's pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so Carver Birmingham's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Cornerstone is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 18 runs on Thursday, they were much more limited against Victory Christian on Friday. They lost 7-0 to the Lions. The Eagles have struggled against the Lions recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Meanwhile, Carver Birmingham hadn't done well against Wenonah recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Rams sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 win over the Dragons. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Rams.
Ezekiel Woodside made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases.
In other batting news, Dejalin Woodside and Isaiah Simon did most of the damage at the plate: Dejalin went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double, while Simon went 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one double. That double was Woodside's first of the season.
Carver Birmingham was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .381. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wenonah only posted a batting average of .059.
Cornerstone's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Carver Birmingham, their record now sits at 2-3.
Cornerstone couldn't quite finish off Carver Birmingham in their previous matchup back in April of 2025 and fell 9-7. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
