The Seaside Spartans pushed their score all the way to 55 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 62-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of Marina. While losing is never fun, Seaside can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 807th, while Marina is ranked 399th).
It was another big night for Julius Robinson, who scored 24 points for Marina. That makes it six consecutive games in which Robinson has scored at least a third of Marina's points. Jordan Bonnard Webb was another key contributor, scoring 21 points.
Seaside has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-13 record this season. As for Marina, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 15-4.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Seaside will take on Pacific Grove at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Pacific Grove focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 last Wednesday. As for Marina, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Watsonville at 7:00 p.m.
