The Stoneman Douglas Eagles will head out to square off against the Belen Jesuit Wolverines at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Stoneman Douglas' pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so Belen Jesuit's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
It was a Battle of the Birds when Stoneman Douglas duked it out with Flanagan on Thursday. The Eagles took a 10-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Falcons. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Eagles, who until this matchup were averaging 3.8 runs allowed.
Stoneman Douglas saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gio Rojas, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Belen Jesuit came out on top against Coral Park on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run first inning. The Wolverines put the hurt on the Rams with a sharp 10-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Wolverines, who have now won ten contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Carlos Cantos Hulett looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Andres Gross was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and two runs. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March of 2025. Another player making a difference was Hayden Pelegrin, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Belen Jesuit always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .625. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Coral Park only posted an OBP of .176.
The win made it two in a row for Belen Jesuit and bumps their season record up to 14-6. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 0 runs in those games. As for Stoneman Douglas, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 15-5.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Stoneman Douglas has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.2 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Belen Jesuit struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.2 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Stoneman Douglas beat Belen Jesuit 10-5 in their previous meeting back in February of 2025. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wolverines turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
