Given Pipestem Christian Academy's advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 50th in West Virginia, while Auburn is ranked 167th in Virginia), the result on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Pipestem Christian Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Duke Testerman out in front who scored 33 points along with five steals. Those 33 points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Silas Mattox, who scored 18 points along with six assists and four steals.
Pipestem Christian Academy's victory bumped their record up to 7-2. As for Auburn, their loss dropped their record down to 6-6.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pipestem Christian Academy won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Beth Haven Christian at 2:00 p.m. on January 6th. Beth Haven Christian comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for Auburn, they will be playing at home against George Wythe at 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday. George Wythe has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 615 points over their last eight contests.
