This season hasn't been kind to the Bandys Trojans, who are still winless after their fourth match. They suffered a rough 50-28 defeat at the hands of South Caldwell on Friday. While losing is never fun, Bandys can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 296th, while South Caldwell is ranked 144th).
Despite the defeat, Bandys had strong showings from Rachel Anderson, who scored 8 points, and Kate Dutka, who scored 5 points along with 5 rebounds. Anderson is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season.
South Caldwell got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Lillie Bumgarner out in front who scored 10 points. The game was Bumgarner's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Addison Edwards, who scored 9 points.
Bandys has yet to win a matchup at home this season, leaving them with a 0-4 record. As for South Caldwell, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-2.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bandys will take on St. Stephens at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. St. Stephens and Bandys are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads. As for South Caldwell, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Bunker Hill at 7:00 p.m. Hopefully Bunker Hill focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 28 on Friday.
