Highland has gone 6-1 against Hammond Bishop Noll recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Saturday. Highland saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hailey Thomas, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.
Meanwhile, Hammond Bishop Noll didn't have quite enough to beat Whiting on Tuesday and fell 9-7.
Molly Whelan put in work while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two doubles and one RBI.
In other batting news, Hammond Bishop Noll got a big performance out of Aiyanna (Yani) Espinosa, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and two runs. Another player making a difference was Caitlyn Walker, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Highland's defeat dropped their record down to 8-6. As for Hammond Bishop Noll, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-4 record this season.
Saturday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Highland has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .474. However, it's not like Hammond Bishop Noll struggles in that department as they've averaged .577. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Highland took their win against Hammond Bishop Noll when the teams last played back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 10-0 score. Will the Trojans repeat their success, or do the Warriors have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
