The Plymouth Christian Academy Eagles will square off against the Inter-City Baptist Chargers at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a five-game winning streak alive.
On Monday, Plymouth Christian Academy got the win against Lutheran by a conclusive 16-1. Considering the Eagles have won 17 matches by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Clara Groen made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted over her last 12 contests.
In other batting news, Chloe Paryaski was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two triples, three runs, and one double. Those two triples gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Botosan, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Plymouth Christian Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in five consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Inter-City Baptist earned an 11-6 victory over Dearborn on Saturday.
The team relied heavily on Lauren Pfeiffer, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. Vanessa Zuniga also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
Inter-City Baptist's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-6. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Plymouth Christian Academy, their record is now 22-9.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Plymouth Christian Academy has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.1 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Inter-City Baptist struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Everything went Plymouth Christian Academy's way against Inter-City Baptist in their previous meeting on May 2nd, as Plymouth Christian Academy made off with a 12-1 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
