Basketball Recap: Victory Christian Academy Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Jania Floyd and Simiya Smith

Victory Christian Academy was the 56-52 winner over Southview Christian when they last played one another back in November of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Victory Christian Academy Patriots took a 64-59 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Southview Christian Conquerors. While the Patriots didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Conquerors 20-11 in the first quarter.

Victory Christian Academy's loss on Friday came despite strong showings from Simiya Smith and Jania Floyd. Smith posted 37 points, while Floyd put up 20 points. Smith is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 18 or more in the last 28 games she's played dating back to last season.

Victory Christian Academy's defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-8. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.3 points per game. As for Southview Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season.
