The Boone Braves can now show off 12 landslide victories after their most recent game on Wednesday. They were the clear victor by a 62-42 margin over Horizon. Boone is really starting to get used to good results now that the team's won 11 straight.
Boone got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Mckenna Murphy out in front who scored 20 points along with two steals. Murphy is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 15 or more in the last six games she's played. Victoria DelaCruz was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with three steals.
Horizon lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Amaya Mitchell, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 12 rebounds. Mitchell hasn't dropped below nine rebounds for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Molly Smith, who scored 14 points along with three steals.
Even though they lost, Horizon smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Boone only pulled down five offensive rebounds.
Boone's win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 20-3. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.2 points per game. As for Horizon, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 14-6.
Boone will head out on the road to square off against the Huskies at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hagerty will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 91st, while the Braves are ranked 31st). As for Horizon, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against the Longhorns at 7:00 p.m.
