Baseball Recap: Rocky Mountain Lutheran Drops Season-High Score on Front Range Baptist

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Rocky Mountain Lutheran). They blew past the Front Range Baptist Falcons 17-1 on Tuesday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Eagles considering their two-run performance the game before.

Gavin Borchardt made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). Borchardt was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. Rocky Mountain Lutheran is undefeated when Borchardt posts two or more runs, but 2-3 otherwise.

In other batting news, Noah Lile was a standout: he scored two runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Judah Sternhagen, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Rocky Mountain Lutheran always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .548. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Rocky Mountain Lutheran's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-3. As for Front Range Baptist, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Rocky Mountain Lutheran will square off against Dawson School at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Mustangs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.86 runs per game on average), something the Eagles will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Front Range Baptist, they will face off against Briggsdale at 3:30 p.m. on Monday.
