If the KIPP Bold City Greyhounds were riding high off their 65-33 takedown of the River City Science Academy Rockets last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. KIPP Bold City was just a bucket shy of victory on Friday and fell 55-54 to Charlton County.
KIPP Bold City lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Elijah Banks, who scored 14 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Banks has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Mikell Reddick, who scored 11 points.
Charlton County's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jordan Toliver, who scored ten points along with five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Demorrion Martin, who scored 14 points along with three steals.
KIPP Bold City's loss dropped their record down to 5-10. As for Charlton County, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-6.
KIPP Bold City on the road again on Tuesday and play against Fernandina Beach at 7:30 p.m. on January 16th. Hopefully Fernandina Beach focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 27 on Friday. Charlton County won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Lanier County at 7:30 p.m. on January 13th. Lanier County is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games.
