Whitharral is 7-2 against Amherst since February of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Whitharral Panthers will head out on the road to take on the Amherst Bulldogs at 6:30 p.m. Hopefully Whitharral focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Friday.
After a string of seven wins, Whitharral's good fortune finally ran out. They fell to Whiteface 56-50.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Nomar Gomez, who scored 26 points. He is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight. Another player making a difference was Nathaniel Sansom, who scored 12 points along with three steals and two blocks.
Meanwhile, Amherst's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They took a 51-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of Anton.
Whitharral's defeat dropped their record down to 19-5. As for Amherst, they dropped their record down to 5-11 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road.
Everything came up roses for Whitharral against Amherst in their previous matchup back in January as the squad secured a 62-33 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Whitharral since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
