Basketball Game Preview: Warsaw Tigers vs. Angola Hornets

The Warsaw Tigers are taking a road trip to square off against the Angola Hornets at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Warsaw knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 21 matchups -- so hopefully Angola likes a good challenge.

Warsaw is headed into the game after thoroughly thrashing Concord: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Warsaw blew Concord out of the water with a 79-27 final score. The Tigers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 17 contests by 20 points or more this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Warsaw to victory, but perhaps none more so than Joslyn Bricker, who went 5 of 6 on her way to 15 points along with six assists and six boards. The dominant performance gave Bricker a new career-high in assists. Another player making a difference was Brooke Winchester, who shot 5-for-9 from deep and dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten rebounds.

Meanwhile, Angola suffered their biggest loss since December 19, 2023 on Tuesday. They were dealt a 70-22 defeat at the hands of Bellmont. While losing is never fun, the Hornets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 125th, while the Braves are ranked 19th).

Warsaw's win bumped their record up to 20-1. As for Angola, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 12-9.

Everything came up roses for Warsaw against Angola in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, as the team secured a 67-38 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Warsaw since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
