The Preble Shawnee Arrows were the 63-47 winner over the Mississinawa Valley Blackhawks when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Preble Shawnee took a 51-33 bruising from Mississinawa Valley on Thursday. While losing is never fun, Preble Shawnee can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 653rd, while Mississinawa Valley is ranked 207th).
Despite the loss, Preble Shawnee still got an impressive performance from Ashleigh Mondello-garrett, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds and four steals. Mondello-garrett is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 13 games she's played. Another player making a difference was Isabella Agee, who scored ten points along with two blocks.
Preble Shawnee has not been sharp recently as the team has lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-13 record this season. As for Mississinawa Valley, the win was the 11th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 17-4.
Preble Shawnee didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 31-27 loss vs. Monroe on the 10th. Mississinawa Valley will be playing in front of their home fans against Mechanicsburg at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Mississinawa Valley is coming into the matchup with 17 straight wins at home, so Mechanicsburg is out to stop a team with plenty of momentum.
