Basketball Recap: Cambridge City Lincoln Comes Up Short

Cambridge City Lincoln lost against Centerville back in February of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Cambridge City Lincoln Golden Eagles had to suffer through a 75-46 loss at the hands of the Centerville Bulldogs. While losing is never fun, the Golden Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 305th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 124th).

Despite the loss, Cambridge City Lincoln still got an impressive performance from Dustin Lunsford, who shot 83% from the field on his way to 12 points. Another player making a difference was Aidan Munchel, who posted 14 points.

Leading Centerville to victory were Ethan Vecera and Shea Hollendonner. Vecera went 5-for-10 en route to 11 points along with eight assists and five boards, while Hollendonner shot 70% from the field to rack up 18 points. The last time Hollendonner's field goal percentage was this high was back in February of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Jace Hollendonner, who scored 11 points and six assists.

Cambridge City Lincoln has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-9 record this season. Centerville has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 games. That's provided a massive bump to their 17-7 record this season.

Cambridge City Lincoln and Centerville are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Cambridge City Lincoln will square off against Monroe Central at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Monroe Central knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past three contests -- so hopefully Cambridge City Lincoln likes a good challenge. As for Centerville, they will challenge Union County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Centerville will be up against Union County's rather soft defense (which has allowed 50.61 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
