After flying high against the DeSoto County Bulldogs on Monday, the Booker Tornadoes came back down to earth. Booker took a 61-50 hit to the loss column at the hands of Southeast on Wednesday. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Booker in their matchups with Southeast: they've now lost five in a row.
Despite the loss, Booker still got an impressive performance from Jovan Palavra, who scored 24 points. The game was Palavra's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jamareon Ruffin, who scored ten points.
Booker's loss dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Southeast, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Booker will challenge Braden River at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Braden River knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matches -- so hopefully Booker likes a good challenge. As for Southeast, they will head out on the road to face off against Palmetto at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Palmetto presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Southeast in Florida (Palmetto is ranked 125th, while Southeast is ranked 277th).
