Ian Johns was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five). He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances. That stolen base was his first of the season.
