The Springport Spartans suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Wednesday. They were outmatched by Concord on the road and fell 79-44. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Springport in their matchups with Concord: they've now lost nine in a row.
Several Spartans players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Braydon Hawes, who scored 11 points. Another player making a difference was Gabe Rainey, who scored six points along with five rebounds.
Springport's defeat dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Concord, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season.
Springport will be playing in front of their home fans against Quincy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Quincy is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road. As for Concord, they will take on Union City at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Michigan (Union City is ranked 292nd, while Concord is ranked 272nd).
