Sierra recap Nov. 7, 2012
Charter Oak extended the longest winning streak in Sierra this week by beating Damien, 38-14. The victory was the seventh in a row for the Chargers.
Baron Franklin was the best wideout in the league this week as Claremont lost to Ayala. Franklin tallied nine receptions for 92 yards. Lane Giammalva helped Claremont's passing attack out by catching four balls for 49 yards.
Matthew Simko threw for 219 yards and three touchdowns. He went 16-23 with zero interceptions.
JORDAN ROBINSON was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 20 carries, he ran for 331 yards as the Bulldogs lost to the Bulldogs. Teammate R.J. CARDENAS added to the ground attack by rushing for 41 yards.
Chino Hills's Simko and Jack Austin have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading Sierra in both passing and receiving yards. Simko has thrown for 2706 yards this season, while Austin, a 6-foot-3 receiver, has 62 catches for 972 yards. Charter Oak's Aaren Vaughns leads the league in rushing yards with 1528.
Austin of the the Huskies' is a few catches away from breaking 1,000 yards for the season. He needs only 28 receiving yards in this week's game against Redlands to get there.
So far this year, BRIAN MEYETTE has thrown for 1853 yards with 13 touchdowns and nine interceptions.
Ayala led the league in scoring this week after putting up 58 points on Claremont. ROBINSON in the win.
