After flying high against the Liberty Red Devils on Tuesday, the Belton-Honea Path Bears came back down to earth. Belton-Honea Path's tough 76-53 defeat to Powdersville on Friday might stick with them for a while. Belton-Honea Path was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 45-25.
Powdersville was led to victory by Hayden Assemian and Jaleel McGee. Assemian dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds, while McGee scored 18 points along with five rebounds. The match was Assemian's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Quan Burton, who scored 11 points along with three steals.
Belton-Honea Path has not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-7 record this season. As for Powdersville, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-3.
Belton-Honea Path will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Palmetto at 7:30 p.m. Palmetto is coming into the match on a five-game losing streak. As for Powdersville, they will head out on the road to face off against Fountain Inn at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Fountain Inn will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps South Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 60th, while Powdersville is ranked 18th).
