The Canyon Comanches won the last time they faced the Villa Park Spartans, and things went their way on Tuesday too. Canyon came out on top against Villa Park by a score of 52-45. Given Canyon's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 39th, while Villa Park is ranked 208th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Canyon got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Staf Yilmazturk out in front who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Josh Goodall, who scored 14 points along with three blocks.
Canyon is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 19-5 record this season. As for Villa Park, they now have a losing record at 12-13.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Canyon will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Yorba Linda at 7:00 p.m. on January 26th. Yorba Linda is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak. As for Villa Park, they will head out on the road to take on Foothill at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Foothill will be looking to keep their five-game home win streak alive.
