Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for The Santa Fe Catholic Hawks, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They were outmatched by Canterbury on the road and fell 42-13. Santa Fe Catholic lost against Canterbury in their previous head to head back in November of 2019, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 28-21 score last time.
Canterbury's win on Friday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Joseph De La Nuez, who rushed for 118 yards and two touchdowns on only six carries. De La Nuez was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 55 yards. Brenden Daller also helped out as he racked up 119 rushing yards.
Santa Fe Catholic's defeat dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Canterbury, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-6.
Santa Fe Catholic does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Canterbury will look to defend their home field on Friday against Harvest Community at 7:00 p.m. Harvest Community is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
