The Dora Bulldogs waltzed into their game on Saturday with five straight wins but they left with six. They pulled ahead with a 40-39 photo finish over Carbon Hill. Given Dora's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 123rd, while Carbon Hill is ranked 284th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Dora found their leader in underclassman Bella Reese, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds. Reese is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Millicent Wilson was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with eight rebounds.
Dora's victory bumped their record up to 16-4. As for Carbon Hill, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-11.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Dora will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Fultondale at 12:30 p.m. on January 23rd. The timing isn't great for Fultondale: they have been struggling with five straight losses at home, while Dora has snatched up four consecutive wins on the road. As for Carbon Hill, they will face off against Winfield at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
